We got the shock of our lives yesterday. Emmett's cardiologist called to tell us the results of his tests. The good news: his heart is doing well. The left ventricle is doing it's job..in fact, it is working harder than they anticipated. The shocking news: after speaking with Dr. Hanley, they both feel very strongly that we don't want to miss this window for the double switch surgery. So, they have scheduled his operation for May 26th.
I am going back and forth between feelings of dread and relief. On one hand, I don't want E to have to go through this...I am deeply afraid for him. On the other hand, I want this behind us. I want Emmett to have the healthy and full life he deserves. I know this is bound to be the longest 2 or 3 weeks of our lives, but, on the bright side, it will all be over soon. Joe and I have never needed your prayers more than we do right now. Please pray for continued strength for our amazing little guy. We love him so much and just want him to be well.
Thanks again for your love and support...it means the world to us!

Wow, Missy! Many prayers for you and your family. E has proved himself as a very strong little man, all will be well. Perhaps the short time frame is best for your motherly fear - less time to be anxious and anticipate its arrival! Hugs to you!
Missy we are rooting for "Little E".
And comfort and rest for you and your family during this trial. As an engineer by training I have a lot of confidence in the technology behind the surgery. It is great to be alive in this day and age and not a hundred years ago.
Sarah and I will say some prayers for your little man. With all of the disregard for human life out there in the world this day and age, it is precious to see such unconditional love. That is priceless!
Surely E's doctors and nurses are aware of this and will work dilligently. I have to believe God knows it too, and will not let you down either.
All the best from The Buchana Family!!!
We are praying for Emmett and for you. I see Emmett and just want to squeeze him. What a sweetie! May God bring healing to Emmett, guidance to his doctors and their staff, and may He bring you a peace that truly pass all our Earthly understanding, during this time. Blessings, Deann and family
I know it must be a scary time and know it has be hard for you and Joe. The relief for you when this time of surgery and healing is over is something to look forward to.
